History Report
Your report on this “field trip to the library” should look like this:
1. The title of your report should be your research topic.
2. List your three sources using the citation guidelines for the Chicago Manual of StyleLinks to an external site. (below).
3. In about one double-spaced page, explain your process. What search terms and filters did you use? Did you try out different topics before settling on this one? How did you decide which articles to select?
4. In about one more double-spaced page, summarize the content of one of your selected articles. Be sure to name the article and author before describing the content. Your summary must include the author’s argument, type of primary sources s/he uses, and your assessment of the article’s strengths. (You may also critique weaknesses, but this is not required.)

In the bibliography, include the page range for the whole article. For articles consulted online, include a URL or the name of the database. Many journal articles list a DOI (Digital Object Identifier). A DOI forms a permanent URL that begins https://doi.org/. This URL is preferable to the URL that appears in your browser’s address bar.
