Gramblingo, a clothing store with multiple locations desires to make a database. They need the usual information about the customer such as name, address, and way to contact them. Because they are an upscale shop wanting to attract and retain high end customers, they must be able to keep a profile of the customer including the size of clothes the customer typically wears, what their color preference is, their customer’s sense of fashion (they keep track of it as keen, good and clueless), and a way to categorize the type of clothing the customer is looking for. The company in the past used labels like dressy, casual and upscale. Additionally, because they are high end, they keep track of the customer’s preference for things like lighting, music and drinks because this is a tactic they use when they work with the customer as they peruse the shop, place the lighting on optimal level with the right mood music and of course the right liquid refreshment.
Additionally, the store wants to keep track of the inventory it has on hand in each store. Each item has a unique sku. From the sku you can learn the manufacture, size and color of the item.
The database needs to keep track the manufacturer representative it buys merchandise from as they do not deal directly with the manufacturer. Each of these representatives manage only one manufacturer’s line of goods You will need the usual contact information for each of these representatives
Typically, when you place an order, you create a purchase order which states which items you are purchasing, the sku of the item, the manufacturer, price and specify the point of delivery.
