The marketing concepts learned in this course, like any human-developed skills and tools, can be used for advancing goals that help humans flourish emotionally, intellectually, physically, and spiritually–or they can be used to advance the opposite. In this assignment, students are instructed to:

• Review the assigned readings and videos that address the broader issue of how marketing can or should be applied to advance human flourishing, especially from a spiritual and/or ethical perspective.
• Develop 3-to-5 stimulating questions from the assigned readings/videos. Examples might be, “How do you see marketing affecting human flourishing from a spiritual perspective?” or “How does your faith guide your decision-making when attempting to influence someone?”
• Identify and engage 3 to 5 business professionals (preferably sales or marketing professionals or entrepreneurs/business owners, but not limited to those roles) in your circle of relationships. Ask them your pre-developed questions and take notes on your conversation. NOTE: Your interviewees do not need to be included in your video, but you are free to include them if you wish.
• Summarize and share insights from your conversations in a 3-to-5 minute video and upload to BrightSpace. These videos are not required to be professionally edited (smartphone video is fine), but please take care to ensure audio and video quality is clear. Video Notes can be recorded directly in Brightspace.
• In the submission notes area, please note who you interviewed for this project and what their role in business is, if applicable. NOTE: You do not have to provide their full name or any other identifiable information such as company name.

Evaluation of this assignment is primarily based on adherence to the requirements above. Remember, this is not about how your interviewees are doing marketing; it’s about the underlying purpose that underpins their approach to marketing. Students are encouraged to view and comment on each others’ videos.
