This task has to be performed with necessary safety precautions.

Identify any three electric appliances available in the college or at home. Carefully study the voltage specification tag on the appliance and record the electric power consumption of each appliance. (The device must be disconnected from power supply while you study the rating tag.)

Calculate the individual resistance of each appliance assuming the operational voltage is the supply voltage in Oman. Also, calculate the total current drawn by these appliances when connected to the power supply in Oman.

According to the Wikipedia, “An energy crisis is any great bottleneck (or price rise) in the supply of energy resources to an economy. “ Overconsumption is one of the reasons for the energy consumption.

Suggest any three major steps you recommend to reduce electric power consumption at your workplace / home.

Attach a print out of the picture of the voltage specification tag on the appliances you selected. The print out is preferably of postcard size 10.5cm × 14.8cm on normal A4 paper. Your answer may become invalid if this picture is missing in your report.

All your calculations should be presented clearly with necessary information and sub headings. A page containing just numbers will not be treated as your answer.

Task 4 Take the spoon/fork/plate/cup from the kitchen and find the number of moles and molecules present in any one.

Task 5 Take any five liquids (soft drink, soaps, detergents, syrup etc) and find the Density and relative density.

General Instructions:

All values and calculations should be in SI units, wherever applicable.

All references , if any, should be in Harvard Referencing System.

Formatting Guidelines:

o Page setup

 Use A4 paper size settings and use 2.5 cm top, bottom, left and right margin.

 Use MS Word to prepare the coursework.

-The section headings

Title cases: Arial, font size 14, bold, left-aligned

– Body text and sub-headings

 Sub-headings: Arial, font size 12, bold, single-spaced.

 Body text: Arial, font size 12, single-spaced. The text must be ‘justified’ aligned. Leave one blank line between paragraphs.

 The pages should be numbered consecutively, without any border.

– Diagram/Image/Graph/Table

Any image, table, figure, or diagram taken/outsourced must be cited with caption.

 Graphs should be prepared using MS Excel or any other application; however, the image of handmade, scanned graphs are not acceptable

– Referencing

Referencing is a system that allows you to acknowledge the contributions of others in your writing and emphasizes the authenticity of the source of your information. Whenever you use ANY words, ideas, or information from ANY source in your assignments, you must reference those sources.
