Please remember that there is  no such thing as “the disabled perspective,” any more than there is such  a thing as a singular perspective aligned with one’s gender identity,  racial identity, etc..  Disability communities are diverse and  heterogeneous, as all other communities are. 

You must take a stance of active learner (not active teacher),  critical reflector (not accepting or reproducing dominant “truths”  without question), and ally (not expert).

• After reviewing all of the descriptions and criteria of the Social  Action Project, and deciding upon your desired topic and group  membership, you and your group members will submit a proposal to get you  started that addresses these main criteria.  

Your proposal should specify: 

• 1.  What is the sociocultural manifestation of ableism, disability  oppression, or disability culture or activism that your group will  explore? 

2.  How will your group access and engage with the perspectives and  agendas of disabled people in trying to learn about this topic?  How  will you learn more about this topic or issue?  What will each of you  commit to do?  

• 3.  Please write a paragraph or two specifying how you’ve gotten  started:  What have you looked for and found in your initial  exploration?  Include links, bibliographic information, social media  account names, etc., as appropriate to help me understand where you’re  starting your exploration.
