My family and I love watching all the Fast Furious movies. I selected the movie ‘Hobbs and Shaw Fast and Furious’. Because it’s one of my favorites and portrays a lot of technology. This movie is a spin-off of the popular Fast and Furious franchise and follows the adventures of law enforcement agent Hobbs and former criminal Shaw as they team up to take down a cyber-genetically enhanced villain. One of the main ways in which this movie portrays technology is through its use of futuristic and advanced gadgets. Throughout the movie, we see the characters using high-tech weapons, vehicles, and other gadgets in their fight against the villain. For example, there is a scene where Hobbs uses a high-tech tracking device to locate Shaw and another scene where Shaw uses a futuristic motorcycle to escape from the bad guys. Another way technology is portrayed in this movie is through its depiction of cybernetics and genetic enhancements. The main bad guy, Brixton, is portrayed as a technologically enhanced superhuman with enhanced strength, speed, and other abilities. This reflects the advancements in technology and the potential for humans to enhance themselves through technology. The movie also showcases the use of technology in surveillance and hacking. There are several scenes where the characters use advanced surveillance equipment and computer hacking skills to gather information and gain an advantage over their enemies. This highlights the increasing role of technology in law enforcement and warfare. Overall, Hobbs and Shaw portray technology as a powerful and essential tool in the fight against crime and evil. It also raises questions about the ethical implications of using advanced technology and the potential consequences of relying too heavily on technology.

For this week’s discussion, I chose a movie the movie “Spider-Man: Far from Home” from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. For those who may have not seen the movie, I do apologize for the potential spoilers. So, the movie is centered around the aftermath of the events of “Avengers: Endgame” where Peter Parker aka Spiderman is struggling to come to terms with the loss of his friend/mentor Tony Starks aka Ironman who leaves him the A.I. glass E.D.I.T.H. Long story short, Spiderman has to ultimately face off against the supervillain Mysterio who is in the movie a former employee of Stark Industry who was bitter about being fired and losing his life’s work.

The use of technology is portrayed throughout this movie as it is mainly centered around the advancements found in Stark Industries. You can see this in Spiderman’s suit created by Tony Stark himself, which is equipped with numerous gadgets and features such as an AI assistant, enhanced web-shooters, and a stealth mode. Also, the film shows the concept of augmented reality through the use of holographic displays and projections, which are utilized by the Mysterio to create illusions and manipulate perceptions. What I found interesting in the movie is how technology is represented as a superpower itself and when misused can cause a great deal of destruction. In the movie, you see the character Mysterio use advanced projection technology to deceive the public and manipulate events for his gain. This goes to show the negative consequences of technology if gone unchecked.
