In your response activity, link one or more of the key themes/concepts covered in class to a contemporary correlate. It’s an observation based project so you are going to have to answer the questions as if you observed.Your response should include the following:
Introduction
What site/scene did you choose and why?
Description of site/scene — use descriptive language here: what do you see, hear, feel, taste, etc.?
Describe the spatial layout of the scene; how long has it been there; how is space organized; how does influence your sense(s) of the space (for example, does it feel constrained or open?)
Describe people who make up the space: who are they and how do they interact?
Highlight objects, items or artifacts in the scene: what draws your attention? how do people use or relate to objects, items or artifacts space? how does this influence how they interact with one another, individually or in groups?
Analyze the site/scene using key themes and concepts from class — what social forces, policies, practices have informed and/or continue to inform this site/space/scene?
Cite at least 5 sources from class (readings, lecture, and videos) to analyze your scene
Conclude with commentary on how what you’ve learned in class informed your understanding of how race shapes space
