Freshwater Withdrawals by Country: Data on freshwater withdrawals can be found here. This dataset will provide the total volume of water withdrawn for agricultural, industrial, and domestic purposes.
Population Data: Information on the population numbers for each country for the years 2000 and 2017 can be found here.
ASSIGNMENT TASKS:
Data Collection:
Navigate to the provided link for freshwater withdrawals data. Select the region/continent for each of the five countries: United States, India, China, Brazil, Italy.
Then, select the country and use the slider bar to find data for the years 2000 and 2017.
Obtain population data for each country for both years from the provided link here.
Calculation:
Calculate the per capita water use for each country for both years – this means that it’s the amount of water used per person. Per capita water use is calculated by dividing the total amount of water used by the total population of the country.
Graph Creation:
Create a grouped bar graph (also known as a multiple bar graph) to display the change in water use per capita between 2000 and 2017 for each of the five countries. You will have five groups (one for each country) with two bars each (representing data for both years). Example below:
