The organization is called the American Heart Association (AHA). The organization’s mission is to ensure they become a de facto force to reckon with in making the world a place that supports healthier and longer lives. The American Heart Association’s vision aligns with its mission: the willingness to take prudent risks to ensure its mission’s success by striving to be creative, innovative, and proactive in everything they do (American Heart Association, Inc., 2023). The organization’s core values include enlivening science, extending and improving people’s lives, inspiring passion and commitment, speaking a language that can be trusted, ensuring and delivering equitable health, meeting people at their points of need, and leaving a lasting and extraordinary impact (American Heart Association, Inc., 2019). The leadership of the American Heart Association is characterized by exemplary professionalism, defined by a culture of integrity, trust, and openness in all its business endeavors. This is the hallmark of the organization’s mission, vision, and values.
The American Heart Association’s mission, vision, and core values were created with nursing core values of upholding human dignity, altruism, integrity, and social justice at heart. An organization that desires and is willing to take risks to ensure that the world can support healthier and longer lives upholds altruism, social justice, and human dignity (Smith, 2020). Additionally, AHA strives to deliver equitable health and inspires commitment and passion in achieving a quality lifestyle. This aligns well with the core values of nursing.
My nursing philosophy is upholding human dignity, impartiality, and delivering quality healthcare for all. The American Heart Association’s mission primarily revolves around providing quality health for all, aligning with my last philosophy (American Heart Association, Inc., 2023). Their vision of using creative, innovative, and proactive measures to uphold human dignity (Smith, 2020) is similar to my second philosophy. The American Heart Association’s values, which primarily define equality, fairness, and openness, are similar to my first philosophy, ensuring that people are respected and treated fairly, irrespective of their social status, race, or ethnicity.

Our Promises: At Lakeland Regional Health, people are of primary importance. That is why the value of caring is at the center of daily activity for our entire organization. We have adopted a culture of relationships and caring that uses a framework of Promises to guide relationships and care for self, patients and families, each other and the community.

The leaders of the organization’s behaviors are, for the most part, congruent with the mission, vision, and values. They promote that people are at the center of their care, and they seem to process their decisions around the well-being of patients, families, and staff. The leaders could improve staffing ratios and expand staff in all hospital areas to increase staff morale and patient safety. This would help with their people-centered care approach.
Lakeland Regional Health’s mission, vision, and values align with nursing core values. Nurses prioritize the health and wellness of patients, making this vision congruent with nursing values. The mission statement highlights patient-centered care and safety, reflecting nursing’s core values. Treasuring all people, nurturing, and inspiring excellence are all aligned with the principles of nursing care.
My nursing philosophy is, first and foremost, patient safety and caring for myself and others to the best of my ability.
The similarities between my philosophy and this organization’s mission, vision, and values (promises) are patient safety, caring for others, and doing my best. We have a shared commitment to ensuring the well-being and safety of patients. There’s a mutual focus on caring for others and myself, and my pledge to always do my best resonates with the organization’s promise to inspire everyone to do their best.
The differences between my philosophy and this organization’s mission, vision, and values (promises) are that they have a broader scope, meaning that their goals are more on an organizational/corporate level, and mine are on an individual level. I do believe, however, that my philosophy does have a trickle effect because patient safety is what is best for the organization, and I can’t keep others safe if I don’t care for myself.

The mission, vision, and values of THS align closely with core nursing values such as altruism, autonomy, human dignity, integrity, and social justice. THS are dedicated to serving others first, prioritizing patient-centered care, and advocating for the well-being of their patients. They strive for excellence in their practice, embracing innovation and technology to deliver quality healthcare. Furthermore, nurses at THS treat everyone with respect and dignity, valuing effective resource utilization and promoting enthusiasm and extra effort in their daily responsibilities.
- They display the core values that are so important to nursing today. These values should be continually reinforced through nursing schools and through employers. Not only do they create a good culture and promote good nursing philosophy, they also lead to increased patient safety and trust (Zemlak et al., 2024) and help us provide high quality care to everyone.

I personally use holistic treatment using ontologic philosophy; this means that humans need to be treated holistically. The leader of the organization emphasizes their core values like the patient safety which is very strict: the diagnose and prescription of psychotropic drugs and revise sometimes 3 times from different PMHNPs to make sure the patient will be treated accurately with dignity, responsibility, and empathy.
