Optional Participation: Faith and Learning

Please read the excerpt from the book of I Peter below.

1 The elders who are among you I exhort, I who am a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that will be revealed: 2 Shepherd the flock of God which is among you, serving as overseers, not by compulsion but willingly,[a] not for dishonest gain but eagerly; 3 nor as being lords over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock; 4 and when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that does not fade away (I Peter 5:1-4 New King James Version).

As Christians, we are called to be shepherds. We are also called salt and light. Salt adds flavor, but salt also brings pain when added to a wound. Light brings guidance but it also brings unwanted exposure at times. Both in a sense bring pain, but both also bring a sense of better or improvement. As shepherds, we can give or allow God to use us in both of these areas to bring people closer or further away from Christ. As a shepherd spiritually and physically, how are you doing your job? Are you gently bringing a new flavor and light or are you bringing pain and unwanted exposure? How do you think that you can share or display this concept of your faith with your colleagues, friends, and family?
