Collaborative Art, Radio Drama, and Solutions During Theatre Closures

Overview 

Local Theatre Company, Antaeus Theatre along with their Playwright’s Lab created an opportunity for artists and audiences alike through radio plays. What is unique is each of the writers pitched their plays to take place in a different Los Angeles Zip Code. Now planning for their third season, Antaeus has found a way to make their presence known with nearly 15 months of their physical space being closed to audiences. 

This is a wonderful series that utilizes sound to help create the environment to support these plays. Although many of these works could work on the stage in front of a live audience, these adaptations are accessible and offer a wider audience than Los Angeles if they had been produced there. 

Continued innovation out of necessity. I’m excited to share these plays with you.

How did the sound designer support the playwright’s ideas? Do you think they did so effectively? What might you have done differently?
