History of Sustainability Timeline

In the previous pages, you have read about a few important events in the history of sustainability. These events helped shaped the environmental movement that led to national and international policies to protect the environment. In this assignment, you will learn more about these policies and a few other events that inspired them. Many of these events will be discussed again later in the semester so it is important that you are aware of their significance.

For this activity, you will write 3-5 bullet points or sentences about any three events of your choosing. As you write your responses, think about the most important information about each event. Next week you will receive a complete study guide for the midterm.

Note: U.S. legislation usually goes through multiple amendments over time. These amendments strengthen previous versions, expand EPA responsibilities, or make other important changes. Therefore, you may see different years than what is listed below. For your study guide, focus on foundational tenets or major changes.
