Quite often, nurse leaders are faced with ethical dilemmas, such as those associated with choices between competing needs and limited resources. Resources are finite, and competition for those resources occurs daily in all organizations.
For example, the use of 12-hour shifts has been a strategy to retain nurses. However, evidence suggests that as nurses work more hours in a shift, they commit more errors. How do effective leaders find a balance between the needs of the organization and the needs of ensuring quality, effective, and safe patient care?

Healthcare Costs
The current topic of national healthcare I chose for the analysis is how increasing healthcare costs has become a concern. This topic, however, is a crucial challenge, considering that it affects the provision of healthcare services in various ways of access, quality, and financial sustainability. In the hospital where I currently work, the rising healthcare costs affect our operations, and the healthcare we give to the patients directly are our operations and the care we provide to patients.
Access to healthcare is a significant societal factor that significantly impacts socially excluded communities. With healthcare prices going up, the poor, especially those who are members of marginalized groups, will have to contend with more significant setbacks in the quest for healthcare services (Broome & Marshall, 2021). These vulnerable populations cannot access quality care since they cannot afford the care services. As a result, they experience increased mortality rates due to poor prevention and management strategies for various diseases. It causes delayed or suboptimal care and, thus, leads to poor outcomes. The uneven access to healthcare emphasizes that healthcare and access must be dealt with to get equal health outcomes for all people, regardless of their social and economic status.
In a situation of growing healthcare expenses, the healthcare firm we are part of has brought strategic measures to curb the negative consequences. Cost reduction has been achieved by introducing measures such as reducing waste, improving resource efficiency, and negotiating with suppliers on cost-effective propositions (Lee & Yoon, 2021). Also, we have given preference to preventive and health education plans as these help to reduce the demand for costly treatments. Such initiatives demonstrate our resolve to deliver affordable and accessible healthcare while maintaining our reputation for providing quality health treatment. We will be cost-cutting and emphasizing preventative health care to improve the health of our community members.
The ballooning medical rates pose a serious and arduous task for our institution. Even though this situation is rather complicated, and we have to deal with it, our efforts focus on overcoming and minimizing these problems. Our mission is to ensure our patients affordably access and obtain good-quality services without barriers. A portfolio of efforts that range from facilitating wastage reduction to improving efficiency and freshening the approach to preventive care enables our patients to reduce healthcare costs. On the one hand, rising healthcare costs keep surprising us with new challenges. Still, at the same time, we are dedicated to developing creative approaches that assure affordability and quality for all patients.
