Directions: This week we are focusing on syntax, semantics and pragmatics pp. 85 – 103. Read through the readings and answer the following six questions. You do not need to copy the questions. You can just answer them with the correct question number. There are specific points allocated for each question.

3. What is denotation and connotation? Give an example. (0.5)
4. Give an example of homophony. (0.5)
