Proposal: During this course, you will explore a key topic of your choice that fits in with issues discussed in our course. For example, you could focus on a specific cause of conflicts, an ongoing conflict or emerging conflict, a peace process or negotiation, or the role of a specific institution or country in a mediation or conflict resolution. You might come up with a different topic, which is fine, as long as it is related to our course discussions, leveraging ideas and theories we are discussing. Also include the questions you will explore in the course of your research to help the reader understand your overall approach towards the subject. • • The proposal will be based only on your initial research, so it is understood that there will be real gaps in your knowledge – that is where the research questions will come in. Keep it simple – just use some bullet points to outline those questions. Your proposal should be 750-1,000 words. In terms of format, a mainstream font (Times New Roman, Arial, Calibri) is preferred as is an 11-point font. Single space or 1.15 space is also preferred. As always, source citations are required. You can use APA or Chicago style, and footnotes or endnotes are fine.
