The tenets of commonality and shared conceptual framework do validate the global citizenship ideology as critical for connecting traditional teaching and learning to a broadened global view. The concept of global citizenship has gained attention in education as a way to connect traditional teaching and learning to a broader global perspective. Teacher education graduates possess the personal and professional qualities that enable them to take a leadership role and work constructively within schools and agencies to create learning communities that foster the growth and development of all learners (Teacher Education Conceptual Framework, n.d.) Commonalities and conceptual framework in education look at the leaders, how they support and promote development to all students.
The tenets of commonality and a shared conceptual framework can be considered critical for validating the global citizenship ideology for several reasons. Commonality fosters understanding and having a common understanding and shared values across diverse cultures can facilitate better communication and understanding. Global citizenship encourages individuals to recognize the commonalities that bind humanity together, promoting a sense of shared identity beyond national borders. Shared conceptual framework enhances learning. A shared conceptual framework provides a basis for collaboration and learning. When individuals share a common set of principles and values, it becomes easier to address global challenges collaboratively (Teacher Education Conceptual Framework, n.d.). This can be especially relevant in educational settings where students are exposed to a variety of perspectives and ideas.
Principals are responsible for establishing enabling school structures through policies, rules, and shared decision-making. When these structures are in place, ‘schools develop an atmosphere of trust and teacher commitment to the school and its mission’ (Hoy, 2003, p. 91), and teachers are more likely to maintain an action orientated focus on continuous school improvement (Zheng et al., 2016). Commonalities and conceptual framework in education look at the leaders, how they support and promote development to all students.
