When I started my journey to obtaining my Bachelor’s in Healthcare Administration I had many challenges when it came to balancing work, home and being a student. I’ve learned to plan accordingly when it came to my classwork and completing my assignments for work. I’ve started utilizing my reminder tools, calendar, and writing notes. A few Adult Learning Characteristics are:Goal-Oriented- Adults have certain goals that they’re trying to achieve which motivates the learning process to obtain those goals. Learning by experience – Being hands-on allows adults to physically perform the training as opposed to listening or watching it. Practical – Many adults prefer practical knowledge and experiences that provide skills that will hold personal relevance. High Expectations – Adult learners mostly wish to be taught things that will be of use in their current field of work, have quick results, and not have their time and/or money wasted on something irrelevant. Human Resources has become aware of the changes in learning and are adapting to those changes. In healthcare, they’ve changed the training from written assessments to virtual/technical videos to enhance the interaction with the individuals taking the training. The four characteristics of adult learners that I would describe is:Needing to know. Adults want to know whether or not what they are learning is applicable to them. Adult learners are Kinesthetic or I like to say tactical learns. This is how I work the best.Goal oriented. Adults are driven by the end result of a project.Eager to learn. If there is something to learn that can further excel their knowledge and make them a better high performance person they are willing to dedicate the time needed. After reading the articles it seems that the HR trends in corporate learning are doing a great job so far in the aid to help their employees remain successful with the knowledge of each particular job field. You can tell that companies genuinely care about staying in business by providing their employees with proper training, which results into caring about them. Staying with the times and technology, is awesome! Considering a lot of them are using VR incorporated training as stated in one of the articles, ‘The goal of Virtual Reality-enhanced training is to create realistic workplace experiences and allow employees to take risks while working in demanding environments.’ (Gasparevic, 2018).
