You must proofread your paper. But do not strictly rely on your computer’s spell-checker and grammar-checker; failure to do so indicates a lack of effort on your part and you can expect your grade to suffer accordingly. Papers with numerous misspelled words and grammatical mistakes will be penalized. Read over your paper – in silence and then aloud – before handing it in and make corrections as necessary. Often it is advantageous to have a friend proofread your paper for obvious errors. Handwritten corrections are preferable to uncorrected mistakes.

Use a standard 10 to 12 point (10 to 12 characters per inch) typeface. Smaller or compressed type and papers with small margins or single-spacing are hard to read. It is better to let your essay run over the recommended number of pages than to try to compress it into fewer pages.

Likewise, large type, large margins, large indentations, triple-spacing, increased leading (space between lines), increased kerning (space between letters), and any other such attempts at “padding” to increase the length of a paper are unacceptable, wasteful of trees, and will not fool your professor.

The paper must be neatly formatted, double-spaced with a one-inch margin on the top, bottom, and sides of each page. When submitting hard copy, be sure to use white paper and print out using dark ink. If it is hard to read your essay, it will also be hard to follow your argument.

Introduction

Marijuana legalization is the subject of much debate. Many people believe that marijuana should be legalized, while others believe that it should remain illegal. This debate is not just about whether or not you think marijuana should be legalized; it also has to do with your reasons for wanting to legalize or keep it illegal. In this essay, we’ll explore some of the most compelling arguments against legalizing marijuana:

Body paragraph 1 – Reasons why marijuana should be legalized

One of the strongest arguments for legalizing marijuana is that it’s a natural substance. Marijuana plants are actually much more similar to fruits and vegetables than they are to tobacco, which makes them less harmful than alcohol and tobacco. In fact, some studies show that smoking marijuana may even help with conditions like Parkinson’s disease or high blood pressure!

So why would anyone want to keep this plant illegal? The answer is simple: money. If you’re selling legal weed in your state, then there’s no need for cartels or gangs—you can just sell it directly from your own store! Also consider how much easier life would be if everyone could get stoned whenever they wanted: no more worrying about being caught at work by an officer who doesn’t know what “dabbing” means (it means putting THC onto another person), no more having trouble getting through airport security because someone forgot their ID after drinking too much Jack Daniels…the list goes on and on (and on).

Body paragraph 2 – Effects of legalization on the economy

A second body paragraph is devoted to the economic effects of legalization. The most obvious effect is that tax revenue will increase, which can be used for any number of things: new schools, hospitals and roads; job growth; reduced prison costs.

Body paragraph 3 – Effects of legalization on drug use of minors

• The legalization of marijuana will reduce drug use among minors.

• The legalization of marijuana will reduce the availability of drugs to minors.

• The legalization of marijuana will reduce drug abuse among teenagers.

Body paragraph 4 – Drug violence in Mexico and Central America

The drug violence in Mexico and Central America is a major problem that plagues the region. Mexico is a major supplier of cannabis, cocaine and heroin to the US, where it is then distributed across the country by traffickers. Drug cartels have been fighting for control over this lucrative business for decades.

In addition to being responsible for thousands of deaths in their home countries, these criminal organizations are also known for kidnapping people across borders and smuggling drugs into other countries such as Canada or the United States (which has been named as one of their top targets).

Conclusion

These reasons are why it is important for marijuana to be legalized and regulated. Marijuana is an effective treatment for many diseases that affect millions of people in our country, as well as being a safer alternative to other drugs like alcohol and tobacco. It has been proven to be less addictive and harmful than these other substances, while allowing consumers freedom over their own lives without worrying about getting caught by the police or having legal issues with their employers due to drug use
