Shared Leadership and Continuous Innovation
Introduction
Leadership is a complicated thing. In the past, it was based on following a leader or a group of leaders. Today, however, leadership is more about being able to adapt and take action when needed. This can be difficult to do when there’s no clear vision for where we’re going as an organization or company. Shared leadership helps us become more adaptive by allowing us to work together toward achieving common goals while also allowing each individual employee to make decisions based on their experience at that point in time with our company.
A new approach to leadership
Leadership is a system of influence. It’s shared, not just with individuals but also with other leaders, who can help you to innovate and grow your own leadership. Leadership is a continuous process—you don’t stop being a leader when you retire from office or lose your job; rather, it’s something that continues through your life after leaving the office or losing your job.
A new approach to leadership will involve us all in creating an environment where everyone feels empowered to make decisions based on their knowledge, skillsets and experiences; where people are encouraged to share ideas; where we learn from each other rather than trying to teach others how they should think or behave (which leads me into my next point…)
Innovation as a system
Innovation is a system. It’s not just one thing in isolation, it’s how you interact with your surroundings, and how you use information from those interactions to make decisions. The more people who are involved in innovation, the better chance they have of creating something new and useful for society as a whole—and that’s why we believe shared leadership is so important!
The reason why we need innovation systems lies within the nature of the human mind: our brains are constantly seeking new ways to do things better than before (what psychologist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi calls “flow”). When we work together on an innovative project like solving global issues through technology or creating sustainable products that help save lives around the world, we can leverage each other’s strengths while sharing knowledge about what works best for different types of problems – all while having fun doing it!
Shared leadership
Shared leadership is a new way of thinking about leadership. It’s not a new idea, concept, or technique—it’s an approach that has been around for centuries and been around in one form or another since humans first made tools out of stone. A shared leadership model is simply an organization that has been designed with the intent to create shared power among its members (and their managers).
In order to understand what makes shared leadership different from other models of leadership, let’s take a quick look at some more traditional approaches:
A new way to lead.
-
Shared leadership: Continuously learning together
-
Continuous innovation: Building on our strengths and finding new ways to do what we do best.
We believe that the best teams are made up of people who are passionate about what they do. This passion drives us to continuously innovate and improve our products, services, and processes so that we can create value for our customers1. Hierarchical Leadership: This is a traditional approach to leadership in which one person (the boss) has all the power and authority, and everyone else follows his or her instructions. This model works well for simple tasks where there’s no need for collaboration—think about how an assembly line works at a car factory..
Conclusion
Leadership is a big responsibility. A leader needs to be able to inspire and motivate people. However, they also need to be flexible and able to adapt when things don’t go as planned. Shared leadership is one way we can do this very well! It involves both leaders and people from different departments coming together with the same goal in mind – innovation.”
