Fire—hotel is part of a mixed-use building: come up with your own scenario providing the CAUSE of the fire (e.g., lit cigarette in garbage, electric outlet, arson), the floor in the high rise it started on and whether it spread to other floors, day of the week, time of day/night, and other relevant information, such as if the fire occurred during a party or on a national holiday.
Task 1:
First, provide a description of the scenario you created.
Second, a.) discuss what should be included in an evacuation plan for this situation—provide specific steps; b.) describe what staff training would be needed for this situation; c.) specify some problems hotel guests may have in this situation; and d.) indicate whether dealing with this situation is similar/different than for most situations.
Task 2: Evaluate the evacuation plan, what would you recommend to improve it? Were there any oversights?

Threat to physical security— hotel is part of a mixed-use building: come up with your own scenario providing the criminal and act (e.g., pickpocket stealing wallet, robber holding up guest in parking garage, kidnapper taking child from room), location of crime, time of day/night, which staff were present, and other relevant information, such as if the crime occurred during a major event at the hotel.

Third, how does having a hotel inside a mixed use building make it more susceptible to fire and contribute to problems in evacuation?
