Part 1 – Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Hazard Assessment

OSHA’s Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Standard requires employers to assess the workplace to determine if hazards are present that necessitate the use of PPE. Based on the assessment, appropriate PPE must be selected and provided to affected employees.

Review the PPE Hazard Assessment Certification Form in your textbook, and use the criteria listed to identify potential hazards in construction sites.

After completing your hazard assessment, develop a summary of your results that explains the hazards you found and ways to control the hazards using engineering controls, administrative controls, and personal protective equipment.

Part 2 – Pre-Planning to Eliminate Need for PPE

Provide a summary of the construction project start-up and pre-planning process. Explain how it can be used to eliminate the need for PPE. Mention the ways that collaboration and communication between all parties can be useful in limiting the need for PPE in some instances. Summarize safety management systems approaches, as they apply to construction sites.

Your summary should be at least four pages in length, not counting the reference page. Use at least three academic sources for your assignment. Be sure to properly cite and reference all sources using APA Style.
