Current State Process Diagram and Analysis
B’S BURGER BUSINESS PROCESS CASE STUDY, CONTINUED
Using the Step 1 and Step 2 content from the Identification Practice Exercise, perform the following:
Create the current state process diagram using Lucidchart.
Then analyze and annotate the current state diagram where manual procedures can be changed and include their benefits.
Finally, create the future state diagram that reflects the redesign of the process model analysis results.
Submit the current and future state redesign process models as a single PDF file.
STEP 3: CREATE SWIMLANES (LUCIDCHART)
Organize the process flow using pools and lanes to represent the stakeholders and their responsibilities.
Use message flows to show the communication between different pools.
STEP 4: CREATE PROCESS FLOWS (LUCIDCHART)
Create the start and end events for the process.
Use the flow objects (events, activities, and gateways) to represent the key elements of the process.
Connect the flow objects using sequence flows to represent the order of activities.
Refine the process flow by adding intermediate events as needed.
Include any necessary parallel or alternative paths using gateways.
STEP 5 ADD ARTIFACTS TO PROVIDE CONTEXT AND CLARIFICATION (LUCIDCHART)
Use data objects to represent inputs and outputs of activities.
Utilize annotations to add explanatory text or comments to the model.
FUTURE STATE PROCESS DIAGRAM AND ANALYSIS
STEP 1: REVISE THE BPMN 2.0 OBJECTS OF THE PROCESS
Revise the stakeholders of the process (customers, actors, departments, applications)
STEP 2: REVISE THE PROCESS SCOPE AND BOUNDARIES
Determine the start and end events for the process; process boundaries
STEP 3: REVISE SWIMLANES (LUCIDCHART)
The current state business process diagram from the analysis step should be duplicated. “Click Duplicating a Page in Lucidchart to learn how to duplicate a diagram page in Lucidchart.”
This is the starting point for performing the Business Process Redesign.
STEP 4: REVISE PROCESS FLOWS (LUCIDCHART)
STEP 5: REVISE ARTIFACTS TO PROVIDE CONTEXT AND CLARIFICATION (LUCIDCHART)
Revise the Data Object type to support the input, output, and persistent data required for the business process.

As is B’S Burger As is order processing
Nicky Pham
Professor Charles Lacy
In the first “As Is” diagram, a client approaches the clerk or call the clerk at B’S Burger. The Clerk takes customer name, order, order method (in-person or call-in order). The clerk then calculates order total on order ticket. They then send the confirmed order to the cook to prepare. The customer waits for purchase and pickup.
In the second case, the system is automated to use the online app, where a customer needs to register for their details once and the system captures the details safely to store in a database. New customers register in the app, but old clients’only need to login. Once logged in, they are to place the order themselves and pay the amount calculate by the system based on the selection of items. After paying, they are supposed to pick the product or wait for transportation to their destination.
