RISE Feedback:
REFLECT: I concur with "Action plans should reflect the type of services that are needed and have an idea of the expected outcome of the services" because it is in line with Hatch and Hartline's intentional school counseling guidelines in regards to determining students needs.
INQUIRE: Can you further explain what "closing-the-gap action plans" are?
SUGGEST: I encourage you to revisit Hatch and Hartline's MTMDSS tier interventions in order to add a citation that would illustrate your example on bullying prevention efforts.
ELEVATE: What if you re-purposed "For example, after a needs assessment, the school is having problems with bullying" as "Following Trish Hatch's MTMDSS tier based interventions, if the school is having problems with bullying, after a needs assessment, we could… citation…" for a more weighted argument?

What practices would you like to research further? Why? In what areas or topics would you like to receive Professional Development?
As I begin my internship, I am looking forward to learning techniques of conducting small groups. I am nervous and anxious about it at the same time. During Group Counseling Class, I was amazed at how Gerald and Marianne Corey conducted group counseling. Having to develop the curriculum for a 10-week small group and employ the techniques displayed in the DVD seems daunting. Even though I spent eight weeks learning about group counseling, it is very different now that I must put the concepts into practice. My desire is to be successful in conducting group counseling and I am always interested in learning additional methods that will aid me in the process. “Group counseling is an efficient and effective way to meet students’ academic, career and social/emotional needs. “Group counseling makes it possible for students to achieve healthier academic and personal growth in a rapidly changing global society. Group counseling is an integral part of a school counseling program and should be supported by school administrators and school districts. The school counselor’s training in group process benefits students, families, school staff and administration. Group counseling has a positive effect on academic achievement and personal growth” (ASCA, 2020). In keeping with this statement, I know that additional professional development will be a plus for me. I believe that with mentoring and practical application, I will be able to be an effective facilitator of group counseling.

Describe your experiences with building relationships with your school administrator.
As a new school year begins, there has been many changes happening at the school district that I currently work at. One of the biggest changes is that there was a shuffle of assignments and locations happening within each department. This school year, I was relocated to a different elementary school than where I was previously located. This change happened suddenly and I was not informed until a week prior to the beginning of the school year. Although, I was sad to leave the school I was previously placed at, I was also excited to be working with a new community and begin to make an impact in the students' lives. This also granted me the opportunity to build relationships with my new school administrator. I began by reaching out to him via email as soon as I found out of the change. I did this to introduce myself and give him a brief overview of all of my duties and responsibilities, along with some of the work that I had been doing at my previous school. Upon his response, he also gave me the opportunity to stop by the school and set up my work area prior to the first day of school. As we enter the second week of school, I can say that I have developed a relationship with my administrator and will help during collaborative work to provide student services. Currently, he has assigned me to the Attendance Team and the Leadership Team.
