Hello,
Networking is an important aspect in your professional life. Many times getting that job you want depends on who you know and who can vouch for you in the professional arena. A great way to network is using LinkedIn. You can highlight your professional experience and connect with a vast array of people from different companies. I would like to work on my networking skills in order to further my career. I am great at connecting with people but I fall short on being able to keep in contact with them. Having a mutually beneficial networking relationship is important (Dinning 2017). Information between both parties should be consistently shared to keep the relationship evolving. To develop a mutually beneficial relationship, never stop asking questions, sharing opportunities, and continuously keep in contact. I think networking is worth the effort because not all opportunities are public knowledge so having someone on the inside can open the door to those opportunities. This is especially true when trying to apply for positions working for the state (at least in my own experience). In order to grow and expand my network, I have to make it a point to stay in contact with individuals I come across. Connecting with people is the easy part for me but staying i contact will definitely take much more effort. I also want to work on building mutually beneficial relationships because I have not had those in my opinion. Typically when I connect with someone, I get the information I need and then 'ghost' them.

Networking is something I would like to improve on in my professional life. Some benefits include knowing who’s hiring at specific companies as well as having someone who can vouch for you in a professional setting. I would like to think I set people up for success in networking by giving people the ins and outs of any company I work for. With all those qualities I feel you can be mutually beneficial of other people in your network.
I feel as though professional networking is worth it, however it’s been hard for me to do it because I’m planning on leaving my current field once I’m done with my master’s program and would love to pursue other ventures.
