Week 2 Lesson Planning Outline

This week, submit your outline for a lesson that will be taught by week 7. Compose a 2–3 page paper that lists and explains the following (provide headings to delineate the topics):

1. The objectives and standards of the lesson (include QSEN). This lesson should be aligned to a nursing theory or nonclinical topic or setting.

2. The length of your lesson: Your recorded lesson should be approximately 40 minutes; however, your lesson plan may showcase an entire lesson or extension of the lesson if your class time is longer.

3. The student audience and learning level: What are the demographics of the students and what, if any, interventions may be needed to account for varied learning styles?

4. A road map for presenting the concepts and content: How will you present the information to the student, what visuals will you source, and how will you relay the content clearly and concisely?

5. Preliminary ideas for assessing students, both informally during the lesson and a summative component that can be administered upon completion of the lesson or unit

6. A list of materials that you will reference or hand out during your lesson

Points: 20

The intent of the outline is to work with your instructor and preceptor to fine tune your ideas for implementation.
