FORMAL PROPOSAL AND CHANGE MANAGEMENT 2
Executive summary
As healthcare demands are ever-rising, healthcare organizations must ensure they take advantage of technology by automating their daily activities as much as possible, keeping up with the technological trend. Team 7 has been contracted to create a formal proposal for modernizing the business operation’s information systems of an extensive hospital network. These include financial, administrative, and legal functions (Woroniecki, 2020). The team had earlier proposed three possible solutions to the problem posed.
The first solution is to deploy a hybrid cloud computing model. This computing style is an essential tool that will significantly assist an extensive hospital network in quickly storing and retrieving information from any location. The second solution was to deploy an ERP system. An ERP system is a cloud-based system that provides a centralized platform for financial management, inventory management, procurement, and accounts payable/receivable, allowing real-time access to patient data and improving the efficiency and accuracy of clinical decision-making. The third proposed solution was to deploy service delivery models to conceptualize and operate a digitalized hospital. Service delivery models help hospitals determine which service or outsourcing models, regarding price and flexibility, are most suited to their operations.
Of these three proposed solutions, the team chose to deploy a hybrid cloud computing Model as the most viable solution for the hospital network. Since the primary tool a hospital needs is accurate patient data, it is essential to have a practical means of accessing these data most securely and efficiently. This solution will easily facilitate more improvements in the future, such as deploying service delivery models and deploying an ERP system. It is more efficient and cost-effective. This paper outlines the proposed solution to the issue of modernizing the business operation’s information system of an extensive hospital network, its benefits, and the challenges that could occur during implementation and the change management procedure.
The Proposal
Deploying a Hybrid Cloud Computing Model (Bola)
Cloud computing helps to deliver computing services such as databases, storage, software, intelligence, and analytics via the internet. This computing style is an essential tool that will significantly assist an extensive hospital network in quickly storing and retrieving information from any location. With the proper authentication, authorized personnel will be able to access patient records without delay. This computing method will increase efficiency and productivity—three types of cloud computing; Private, public, and hybrid. The private cloud is usually owned by a single business, making it expensive because it has the highest. The public cloud is shared by all organizations and is cheaper because organizations get to pay per use. The hybrid model, however, combines both models to create a highly secure yet economical means of cloud computing (Hunter, 2020).
Since the healthcare industry creates a vast amount of data, including patient admissions, lab results, bills, and provider-patient interaction, the industry requires a secure yet economical means of storing this information. Maintaining a local hardware storage infrastructure would be too expensive in the case of an extensive hospital network, hence, cloud computing. Hybrid cloud computing is incredibly economical because it allows the organization to store extensive operations data in the public cloud and sensitive information in the private cloud. Since the public cloud is on a pay-per-use basis, the organization can save some funds on storage (Vodovatova, 2023).
This method of cloud computing allows for easy manageability. The hybrid cloud computing system is divided into different components, which the elements of each component performing their separate functions without interacting with other components. A section meant for blood work results would not interact with the section responsible for MRI. The hybrid cloud computing model is reliable and secure. Since each component of this model is not interactive, the workflow is uninterrupted and can handle as much workload as possible. The combination of the private and public cloud computing models allows for a secure means of protecting sensitive patient health records on the private cloud. This covers the aspect of regulatory compliance. HIPAA describes how patient data should be handled. The hybrid model considers this with a private cloud computing section (Vodovatova, 2023).
Potential Challenges of Implementing the Hybrid Cloud Computing
The complexity of the workflow in the healthcare industry may become a challenge in implementing hybrid cloud computing. For example, a single patient has to submit several test samples, and each sample has to be tested for several factors. They may create many data that may need help to handle. An impact this could have on hybrid cloud computing is a conflict between the private and the public cloud. That is, “what goes where?” The long-term effect is that the organization may have to employ a dedicated software company to manage its hybrid cloud computing infrastructure (Vodovatova, 2023).
Change Management
Goals
Cloud computing has become an essential technology for businesses looking to improve their IT infrastructure's scalability, security, and cost-effectiveness. Among the different types of cloud computing solutions available, the hybrid cloud has gained immense popularity due to its ability to combine the benefits of public and private clouds. This proposal aims to explore the benefits of hybrid cloud computing and recommend a suitable hybrid cloud solution for our organization.
Objectives
Our organization is a growing business that is looking to improve its overall IT infrastructure to support its expansion plans. Currently, we have an on-premises IT infrastructure that is primarily used for storage and application hosting. However, as we expand our operations, we anticipate an increase in the demand for computing resources. Additionally, we are also looking to improve the security and reliability of our IT infrastructure while reducing costs. Hybrid cloud computing has the potential to address these challenges, and therefore, we believe it is worth exploring.
Action Steps
Hybrid cloud computing provides businesses with the ability to scale up or down quickly as needed. This flexibility is possible due to the hybrid cloud's ability to leverage the resources of both public and private clouds. Hybrid cloud computing allows businesses to keep sensitive data on-premises while using the public cloud for non-sensitive data and application hosting. This approach enables businesses to maintain greater control over their data and protect it from external threats. Hybrid cloud computing solutions are typically less expensive than on-premises infrastructure as businesses do not need to invest in expensive hardware and software. Additionally, hybrid cloud providers typically offer pay-as-you-go pricing, which allows businesses to only pay for the resources they use. Our organization can benefit from adopting a hybrid cloud solution that combines the benefits of public and private clouds. The following organized sections outline some proposed solutions for hybrid cloud computing:
Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) – A hybrid cloud solution that leverages IaaS provides businesses with a scalable, cost-effective, and secure infrastructure. With IaaS, our organization can leverage the public cloud's resources for non-sensitive data and application hosting while keeping sensitive data on-premises.
Platform as a Service (PaaS) – A hybrid cloud solution that leverages PaaS provides businesses with a platform for building, deploying, and managing applications. With PaaS, our organization can leverage the public cloud's resources for application development while keeping sensitive data on-premises.
Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) – A hybrid cloud solution that leverages DRaaS provides businesses with a cost-effective and reliable disaster recovery solution. With DRaaS, our organization can leverage the public cloud's resources for disaster recovery while keeping sensitive data on-premises.
Protocols
Hybrid cloud computing is a powerful technology that can help businesses improve their IT infrastructure's scalability, security, and cost-effectiveness. Our organization can benefit from adopting a hybrid cloud solution that combines the benefits of public and private clouds. We recommend exploring the proposed solutions further and working with a reputable hybrid cloud provider to implement a customized hybrid cloud computing solution that meets our organization's unique needs.
The definition of terms
· Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS): Infrastructure as a service (IaaS) is a system of cloud computing that delivers virtualized computing resources over the internet.
· Platform as a Service (PaaS): PaaS, or Platform-as-a-Service, is a cloud computing model that provides customers a complete cloud platform—hardware, software, and infrastructure—for developing, running, and managing applications without the cost, complexity, and inflexibility that often comes with building and maintaining that platform on-premises.
· Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS): Disaster recovery as a service (DRaaS) is a cloud computing service model that allows an organization to back up its data and IT infrastructure in a third party cloud computing environment and provide all the DR orchestration, all through a SaaS solution, to regain access and functionality to IT infrastructure after a disaster
