Your task will be to find a case related to one of the following topics and answer the questions I have noted. You must include a link to your case so everyone can review it if they wish (5-point deduction for not including a link). To make this more engaging, try to find an interesting case that you would like to share with the class:
1) Find an example of a malpractice court case. Briefly summarize the case then state how the four elements of negligence are met, or maybe they were not met, and this defendant won the case. Be detailed and specific. What type of negligence was the case about – misfeasance, malfeasance, or nonfeasance?
2) Find a case relating to informed consent to treat. Cases related specifically to consent to treat are typically the most interesting. Briefly summarize the case. Was the patient given an adequate informed consent? If not, what was lacking in the consent? What was so important about the informed consent that made it an issue in this case? Be detailed and specific.
