In Books 7 and 8 the tide has turned, and the Greeks have been thoroughly pummeled. Hector demonstrates himself as the best of the Trojans. For the first time their came, and their ships are in serious danger.

Once they get to Achilles hut, they feast and then Odysseus present Agamemnons offer. (Notice the slight difference in the presentation.) Summarize Achilles response.

Who do you agree with in this section Achilles, Phoenix and the delegation from Agamemnon? Why?
How does this book end?
BOOK 10
Tells of a night raid on the Trojan camp. (Both camps are actually trying to spy on their opponents camp, but the Greeks are the only one to succeed.) It is interesting as we see another example of the Greeks attitude toward beauty as tied to power. The Greeks send out Diomedes and Odysseus, while the Trojans send out a basically anonymous solider named Dolon. From the moment hes selected we know hes going to die, and sure enough Diomedes and Odysseus kill him. They also steal some horses, kill some soldiers and return tot eh Greek camp unharmed.
