“Contemporary society involves the society we live in at the present time. It does not involve just one group of people, it includes everyone. It is like comparing societies of the past to the present. Among the several indicators found in the text, the ones that portray indigenous African system are relevant to the contemporary society include; hard work, family tie and loyalty, marriage and marital fidelity, use of proverbs and tolerance (Kemi & Chijioke, 2020). Even now African Americans and other minority groups have to work harder in any subject of life and have to prove harder than those who are not minorities. Protestant churches are one of the larges social service networks around during the early 1800s and so on. Martin Luther said that working was an important factor of dignity and responsibility to God. Poverty was seen as a moral failing in orthodox Protestant theology (Karger, 2022). The Protestant theology did not agree with social welfare. Social workers believed that distributing relief was counterproductive since a reliance on charity weakened the moral fabric of the poor and provided a disincentive to work (Karger, 2022). These days there are still lots of social welfare programs that assist families. Although society today is much different than what it was years ago. The churches are not the only ones who help those who are poor or in need. There are programs that also help with training so that individuals will be able to learn new professions and be able to work in different fields. There are people who follow the church and dedicate themselves to the church. There are people who provide funds and dedication to the church and work hard to show the members that they are worthy. There are people who also do not follow the church and live by with their beliefs in God. Everyone is different and what society someone identifies with is important in who they are.
