Best friends from university Jenny, Kat and Louis bought an apartment together in 2012. Jenny moved out of the property in 2015 and sold her share of the property to her friend Mofi. In 2018, Kat’s boyfriend Nathan moved into the property. He redecorated the apartment, cleaned and paid for the gas bill every month. Recently, Kat ended her relationship with Nathan and he has argued that he should be entitled to a share in the property because he has acted to his detriment financially and practically. Kat promised Nathan repeatedly that she would ‘always support him’ in his low-paid job as a professional magician and that he would ‘always have a home to live in’. Louis decided that it was difficult to live in the apartment with the continued conflict between Kat and Nathan, who is still living in the property. One month ago, he and Kat mutually agreed that he would ‘sell the share of the property at some point in the future’. Tragically, Louis died in a car accident one week ago.
