We watched the video of the Tank Man from China who stood up to the military regime and has motivated people since then to stand up for their rights, not only in China, but also in Germany as well. The video is available on Canvas.Now, I am asking you to watch a video interview of Malala Yousafzai from Pakistan. She was shot in the head for advocating for girls’ education. She survived the shooting and has continued to speak out about the importance of education. After watching the video, there is an assignment to look at quotes from her book. Some of the quotes point out gender differences in Pakistani culture and the West; other quotations focus on education. I am asking you to select two quotes from each handout and write about how these ideas have motivated Malala and why you are motivated to get a college education.
