The following topics, and narrow the topics down to a very specific focus.

Option #2: Creative Project

Create an original work of fiction which reflects your knowledge of a subgenre within the thriller or horror genres. You may create: a screenplay,  a short story, selections of poetry,  a short film, an opera, or an album, in short, you have an open invitation to offer a creative work, so long as that work shows off your knowledge of our key course themes (Representation of fear). Any written effort should strive to be a minimum of 700 words. We will negotiate the level of effort expected for submissions that are not strictly writing-heavy.

You will also include a document (200-300 words) which explains how your submission works within (or plays with,

circumvents, parodies, celebrates, etc) the chosen subgenre.

Strong submissions will:

● Offer a good breadth of routh work that indicates planning and organization

● Indicate a sincere effort level

Reflect course discussions regarding tropes and/or conventions of the chosen subgenre

Reflect the conventions of the chosen writing style/genre

Take great care to limit distractions related to organization, paragraph/sentence structure, grammar, and syntax
