In my opinion both the patient and the health provider has ownership, you as a patient have your personal information about your body but the provider needs it for your health. As a patient you are providing all the necessary information to become a patient, be seen, and get the help that is needed. Health providers use the information to help diagnosis and treat the patient by having history of anything the patient has been seen for or any procedures done. Having your records available online is very beneficial especially when it comes to peoples time, being able to just print out whatever you need on your time is great. But I also believe all information such as certain test results should be told and discussed with the doctor. Some people need to be sat down and receive clarity about their situation or they can over think things and then there is a problem mentally. Everyone doesn’t have that family/friend support and when you can see results and have to wait to talk to the provider about whatever your thinking and feeling could be really hard.
