For this discussion, I want you to look for an artifact in your everyday life that is based in an ancient idea. Perhaps there’s a song, an advertisement, a film, or TV show that you’ve seen where you think there are ancient ideas at play. Do your best to find a link or image of the artifact and post it in the discussion. Then, in 150 words explain how the artifact has re-created or represents the ancient in today.

For instance, if you were to write about the Disney film “Hercules,” you cannot just explain that the film is based on the Greek God, Hercules. You need to interpret the film and its meaning, explaining how the meaning of the ancient story helps to shape the meaning of the film. Alternately, if you choose a song, like the Hozier song, for instance, it’s not enough to say that Hozier references Plato. You’ll need to explain what Plato meant, why it is important, and how it helps to create meaning in the song. (The Hozier song is also “off the table” — you need to find your own example)
