Community potlucks consisted of community members coming together in a space to talk about what they wanted to see in the community.  Each family or member bought and prepared a dish to bring to the potluck.  That space was meant for each community to come together and “also served to place neighborly communing over the negative experiences of violence, fear, and outside intervention”.  This was a very direct way for the founders of the Potlucks to hear from the members of the community themselves. Other events were set in place after the potlucks such as, trunk or treats, weekend neighborhood cleanup, and ways of growing and eating healthier food.  

Yes this program has definitely has a positive impact on the community, by bringing them together to get to know one another and create other events to do as a community.  It empowered the community to come together and contribute to their own solutions.
