HEALTHCARE STRATEGIC PLAN
HEALTHCARE STRATEGIC PLAN
1. Mission & Vision
a. What is the mission of your organization? If you’re unaware of what it is…ask. Conversely, you can make one up if you need to for this assignment.
b. What is the vision of your organization? If you’re unaware of that it is…ask, too. Likewise, you can make one up for this assignment, if you need too.
This stage of the planning sets the stage to remind your team of the organization’s mission and vision, but also to allow others to conceptualize your organization rather quickly while reading through your plan.
2. Core Values
a. What are the core values of your organization?
These are sometimes easily found along with the mission and vision statement. If not, ask fellow colleagues/leadership team. One who has worked at an organization for a decent amount of time should at least have a general idea of the organization’s core values.
This stage allows you to once again, set the stage for your organization. It allows you the chance to be reminded what your organization holds close as it’s values, but also allows others who will read this plan to understand your organization’s values, too.
3. Evaluation of SWOT/PEST Tools: This stage of the strategic plan, you’re investigating what areas your organization is doing well at and also areas for improvement as well as resources available to your organization.
This step in the planning provides you with a path forward in your strategic planning to improve your organization utilizing the areas identified utilizing the tools.
The SWOT and PEST tools should identify a few things; areas that you’re doing well (Strengths) and areas for improvement (Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats).
The PEST tool allows you to identify Political, Economic, Social and Technological forces available to your organization.
The SWOT tool allows you to view areas of improvement in your organization, the PEST tool allows you to identify the various assets available to you and your organization which will be beneficial in addressing the shortcomings the SWOT analysis identified.
4. Identifying Strategic Goals: This area is where you scope out goals based on your SWOT & PEST analyses. Goals should be SMART: Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic Time-bound. Ideally, you should have two to three strategic goals for your plan. What are some things your department/organization can improve or do better? These areas for improvement are great starting points for strategic goals.
Please discuss each goal in its own paragraph.
