Name of parent (fictitious): Julianna Age of parent: 39
Ages and names of children: Sharleen 19, Joshua 16, Michael 10, Tammy 4

My daughter Tammy is in your full-day kindergarten room. Tammy has started to show some inappropriate behaviour since she started JK and seems to get frustrated very quickly. This is very different from my other three children. It is awkward since my older children, at some point, were also attending this school. I have asked to meet with you, the ECE teacher as I have a feeling something is very different about Tammy and I’m scared!
Members in the household (what is their role and/or involvement in the daily care of the child/ren):
My husband lives outside of Canada and comes to see the children twice a year
I’m the primary parent/caretaker who works as an ECE in the kindergarten at a school (…this means usually it’s just my four children and myself)
Sharleen is an out-of-town university student and comes home on rare occasions
Joshua is a high school student and picks up Tammy from the childcare on a daily basis
Michael is able to come home on his own, and on occasion waits up for Joshua and Tammy, in the parking lot of the school, so they can catch a ride with me home
Relevant family values: (culture/ethnicity, spiritual background, sexual orientation, values)
My family practices Christianity
We prefer to keep our concerns private and deal with them the best we can
The primary issue for meeting with the ECE teachers for my child…what is/are the issue(s) that will be discussed at the meeting:
Tammy attends full-day Kindergarten and she is demonstrating inappropriate behaviour in both settings such as yelling, hitting other children and adults, throwing toys/ furniture etc.
Even at home, I notice that transition times appear to be the most challenging. She also seems to be a flight risk (meaning she can disappear from the classroom without warning).
(While I appreciate that the ECEs have some concerns, I am not ready to accept any outside services and prefer not to share any information between child care and school…)
