Background
The Supreme Court of the United States is responsible for interpreting the Constitution, which sets precedent for lower courts to follow. Ultimately, this process builds case law. When studying constitutional law, it is critical to be able read, understand and summarize cases that all play a role in setting precedence for other courts across the land. The process for briefing case laws, which you will do for this assignment, is discussed below.

Tasks
Part 1: Using the Case Brief Instructions document, prepare a brief on each of the following historical cases regarding the Fourteenth Amendment:
Plessy v. Ferguson (1896)
Brown v. Board of Education (1954)
Mapp v. Ohio (1961)
Loving v. Virginia (1967)
Regents of the University of California v. Bakke (1978)
After each brief, explain the importance of each case. Within the discussion, include all dissenting and concurring opinions. Discuss the evolution of the Takings Clause on important case law. This part of the assignment should be at least two pages in length.
Part 2: Using only the case law for your analysis, select two of the cases above and provide a detailed and thorough discussion of the evolution of the Fourteenth Amendment. Sources like Oyez (http://www.oyez.org) and Cornell Law Institute (https://www.law.cornell.edu/) are helpful for completing this part of the assignment, which should be at least two pages in length.
Other Requirements
Both parts 1 and 2 should be submitted in one document. There is a two-source minimum for this assignment. One source must be obtained through the CSU Online Library.(I will attach in the chat)
