Who is to blame for the opioid pandemic
Please help me with an outline on my argumentative essay topic
Topic: Who is to blame for the opioid pandemic?
The Introduction:
As with all introductions, we want to present our argument to our reader while also getting them interested in what we have to say.
1. Get them interested and invested in this topic – why should they care?
2. Consider the background information you readers may need in order to move forward with your topic.
3. Of course, end with your thesis – we need to make sure that our argument is front and center here for the reader so that they know what path this essay will take as we move into the body.
The Body:
1. The next few body paragraphs will be dedicated to presenting and supporting your argument. Refer back to your thesis and outline to settle on your argument’s premises/reasons.
In each body paragraph, focus on just one premise/reason – don’t overdo it.
Make sure to clearly state the premise (and tie it back to your chosen issue/topic) in your topic sentence, and use the remaining sentences to expand on this idea, show the connection, and prove its validity.
Bring in your evidence – introduce the source, integrate its content, explain how it connects to your argument, and cite it with in-text citations.
Conclusion:
It’s tempting to burn out in the conclusion and just restate your main points and thesis. But this oftentimes sounds (and is!) repetitive, with no new insights or connections being offered up to your reader. Instead, let’s give your conclusion a specific job. You can choose just one or blend multiples from the suggestions below:
Why should the reader care about this topic, and more importantly, what you have to say about it? How does it affect them? How might your view be something that can benefit them or our culture as a whole?
Since we’re arguing on cultural issues, what might happen if we don’t change our approach (either in thinking, in action, or both) about this topic? What does the future look like?
If you want to get your reader to DO something as a result of what they’ve just read, tell them what that thing is here.
The conclusion is your last chance to engage with the reader, so be clear in your language but also engaging – what kind of feeling or mood do you want them to have once they’ve read that final sentence?

My notes I have so far:
Doctors, pharmaceutical companies, and insurance companies play a huge role in the opioid epidemic. As a result, patients are often given opioids for conditions that could be treated with other, less dangerous drugs or physical therapy. Unfortunately, this overprescribing of opioids has led to many people becoming addicted to these drugs. Another cause of the opioid epidemic is the illegal use of opioids. Many people obtain opioids illegally by buying them on the street or stealing them from friends or family members who have prescriptions. This illicit use of opioids often leads to addiction, and it can also lead to overdose.
The opioid epidemic is a significant problem in the United States. According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, more than 115 people die daily from opioid overdose. Unfortunately, this problem is only worsening, as the number of overdose deaths has quadrupled since 1999. It is clear that the opioid epidemic is a problem that needs to be addressed. In 2015, over 33,000 people died from overdoses involving opioids, which has only increased in recent years.
