I feel in today’s job market Healthcare Professionals have the upper hand this may pose a threat to those in administration. I feel that Registered Nurses and Technologists are able to negotiate wages and working conditions in ways that they have not been able to in years past. I feel this makes it harder for administrators to attract and retain employees as well as meet staffing budgets. A large part of this was brought on by the pandemic and burnout it caused. Employees left the field all together, many retired early and a good number left healthcare all together. Leaving voids that were filled by travel contracts, such contracts showed employees that wages and schedule specifics could be dictated. The bureau of labor and statistics showed 8.8 million positions in healthcare that need to be filled. (US Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2022) Making the current job market in the favor of the employee rather than the employer.
I feel I have a good foundation in my field I have worked my way up from the bottom and understand the process it takes to perform the job being asked. My goal is to manage an interventional lab. The biggest challenge in this day and age is making myself standout. I have a great resume packed with experience and professionalism but I need to make myself stand out and be remembered from a paper. Media Bistro recommends being creative to get noticed, adding humor to your resume. (Schwartzberg) I am not sure healthcare is ready for humor. I will have to make sure my qualities shine on paper enough to get me face to face and I can release my humor.
