Happy Feet is a fast food restaurant chain created in the 1950s for quick access to good foods for all sorts of people, which include burgers, chicken sandwiches, pies, fried potatoes, ice cream, coffee, and more. It is one of the most popular organizations in the world. Happy Feet has a global reach with stores in 3,800 stores in over 120 different countries. Happy Feet restaurants are convenient and affordable with drive through locations throughout the world. It has standardized processes in an attempt to maintain quality. It has excellent brand recognition — the logo of a penguin is renowned for being recognizable. It has joint ventures with Wal—Marl stores, airports and amusement parks. It has also adopted menus to fit preferences of the country it is in. For example, in Hawaii, it sells pineapples. Happy Feet has low product diversification with limited products offered. In addition, the food served is quite unhealthy with the average Happy Feet meal contains much sodium, unhealthy fat, sugar and empty carbs. Happy Feet also has a millennial problem. A disproportionate percentage of young adults say the fast—food chain negatively impacts their community. 26% of young adults aged 18—34 said the company has a negative impact. Happy Feet has been struggling to find new customers over the past few years. Company executives told investors in March that its restaurants in the US. have lost 500 million potential customer transactions since 2012, according to a webcast of the event. In light of this criticism, Happy Feet is continuing to improve its quality of ingredients—and emphasizing those changes—is an important step for Happy Feet as it tries to change perceptions of its brand overall. Employees at Happy Feet have often felt pressured to work more hours than they want. I Managers have been unsympathetic to the plight of the employee who is also a student, demanding that they work regular hours during exam time. The working environment has not always been respectful where managers resort to yelling at employees to get certain tasks done. Employees do not feel supported and there is a hint of fear in the air at the restaurant. Most employees are students and therefore, need to keep the job. Sometimes the workload is unmanageable and causes unbearable stress. Employees do not often get a chance to voice their concerns or offer suggestions on how to improve the work environment. There is no employee recognition for good work done. The morale is quite low and this makes productivity and trust levels low. The corporate head office at Happy Feet is very rigid. It does not connect with employees except to communicate the mission statement, which focuses exclusively on customer satisfaction. There is not mention of trying to create a healthy and supportive workplace environment for employees.
