Her previous pregnancy was uncomplicated and she gave birth to a 4,200g baby boy. She is now experiencing periods of polydipsia and polyuria. Her urine is tested and shows 2 pluses of glucose in her urine.

You are working in the Community Midwifery Team and Jenny has arrived for her antenatal clinic visit at 28 weeks with her first pregnancy. She looks pale and states she feels tired all the time and finds it hard to go to work every day. A review of her last blood tests shows a haemoglobin level of 90g/L.
