Career Values Worksheet: Directions
Career Values Worksheet: Directions
Use Career Values Worksheet during the card sort activity to be completed as part of the Week 9 Discussion post. For the card sort activity, you will create a card sort using the suggested list of values provided below, or values you identify for yourself. Then, with a volunteer, conduct the card sort. The volunteer will first categorize each value as “Most Important,” “Important,” or “Not Important.” After the cards have been categorized, instruct the volunteer to organize the values in the “Most Important” category in descending order until the top eight values are identified. After identifying the top five values, sit with the volunteer while they use the Career Values Worksheet to rate how closely the four different career options match his or her selected values. Conclude the session with the client reflection questions to help the volunteer process the insights gained from the activity. Watch the example card sort demonstration found in this week’s Learning Resources for ideas about how you might introduce the card sort to your volunteer. Also, determine how you might explain and use the Career Values Worksheet after your volunteer has completed the card sort.
