Phase II: Organizing
Overview: Each group will submit a presentation through Blackboard with approximately 10-15 slides using videos and voiceovers. The presentation should atleast 5 slices. Each slide (not including the title slide and reference slides) will include a bulleted list of highlighted information from each of the phases by using the management model as the conceptual framework. Photos, graphs, graphics, etc. are permitted if properly cited but original work is otherwise required. Prezi is also optional to use for the presentation. Be creative as a group for the PowerPoint presentation. This part of the project may be the most challenging; however, by using each members creativity it is possible. For this phase of the project complete the following:
I. Identify various individual positions available in the HSO/HS (i.e. GB, CEO,
PSO, LIPS, 1st Level Managers, etc)
II. Identify and Describe the HSOs departments, team (workgroups); cluster of workgroups
III. Identify and discuss any inter-organizational relationships (i.e. horizontal or vertical
integrations, strategic alliances,
IV. Describe the functions and responsibilities of the various position and departments
a. Span of Control
i. Tall or Flat
V. Identify and describe the HSOs/HSs organization design. Refer Mintzbergs Five Basic
Organization Designs:
a. Simple Structure
b. Machine Bureaucracy
c. Professional Bureaucracy
d. Divisionalized Form
e. Adhocracy
Be sure to identify the design accordingly to the five interrelated parts provided
Mintzberg: strategic apex, operating core, middle line, technostructure, support staff.
