Hello Dr. Reddy and classmates,

Managing an Agile project requires effective communication to convey important information between the project team and the client. Effective communication requires more than just knowledge. The agile project manager should master both technical and non-technical skills.

I would like to think that I have communication skills and can work well with others while thriving and remaining calm under pressure. I also have active listening skills to understand team members’ concerns or ideas, focus on the essential work, and prioritize.

I need to develop interpersonal skills such as mentoring, encouraging, and supporting team members. Also, I need to develop my technical skills to be able to help the team manage activities like quantitative risk analysis.

According to uCertify Chapter 5, all servant leaders strive to obtain the following aspirational skills: empathy, respect, integrity, fairness, patience, responsibility, flexibility, and self-discipline (1). All these aspirational skills are important to be an effective Agile leader. Thus, I would need to develop these skills.

I try to follow this mantra by Tony Robbins “To effectively communicate, we must realize that we are all different in the way we perceive the world and use this understanding as a guide to our communication with others” (1).
