I never gave much thought to the 80’s. My parents were still in Mexico so they had a very different experience. Before this lecture I only ever associated cassette tapes to this decade. I had one coworker who swore it was the best time. I never really paid attention to his stories because I always thought they were farfetched and I always like he was stuck in the past. My perceptions have definitely changed. A decade that I once had as a void in my mind now has new material. President Reagan was a really cool guy. I loved listening to the part of the lecture where he still had his humor after being shot. I did grow up in the 90’s so D.A.R.E was still a pretty big deal. I always remember “Just say no” and I never knew it came from his Presidency. I have also heard the term “Reaganomics” here and there in my life time. I never actually put President Reagan as the one responsible for it. The Iran-Contra Affair is something completely new that I have never came across. I believe if I were an adult at that time, I would have definitely forgiven him. It takes a lot for someone to admit they screwed up.
