- Search the OCLS databases for a current, peer-reviewed article that discusses EITHER of the following: (a) Social considerations for personal healthcare information (PHI), OR (b) ethical considerations for PHI research or use. - Prepare to discuss the following prompts:
- Discuss the most common barriers and constraints to HIPAA compliance in healthcare settings. Share policies and practices that you believe promote the security and confidentiality of PHI. Cite and reference your textbook (chapter 6) to support your discussion. Remember to use chapter author surnames when citing and referencing the edited textbook.
- Summarize the information from your chosen article (see #5 above). How will the information from this article influence your professional practice? Be certain to cite and reference the source.
- Your initial post should be at least four paragraphs in length, with a minimum of three sentences in each paragraph. Your post should be submitted by the end of day #4 of this workshop.
- Cite and reference two current, scholarly sources to support your discussion post: Your textbook and your chosen article.
- Read and respond to at least two classmates’ initial posts by the end of the workshop. You are encouraged to respond to the follow-up instructor questions directed to you. Your responses to classmates should be a minimum of six sentences in length.
- Whether written or spoken, interactions are expected to:
- clearly and thoroughly address the prompt with meaningful information that shows critical thinking.
- introduce your own ideas and questions to add greater depth to the discussion, rather than restating what your classmates have shared. (Include much more than "Great post," or "I agree.")
