African Americans and Native Americans share a common experience of being historically oppressed and marginalized in America. Despite the discrimination, racism, and exploitation that they encountered over several centuries, African Americans and Native Americans have persisted, resisted, and survived.They continue to believe and hope for a better America.
In 5-6 pages, using Between the World and Me (Coates, 2015) and the documentary Urban Rez (see link below) as your primary text and film, examine the themes of the American Dream, struggle, and resilience as experienced by African Americans and Native Americans. Be sure to discuss both Coates (2015) and Urban Rez for each theme.
