1. Explain the importance of constructing a logical position or argument for research.
Research needs a basis, to do research without a position or argument lends itself to accepting whatever is first presented to you. Having a position when you research forces you to question the strength of the argument and sources on both sides of the argument. Attempting to support your position also focuses your research to relevant information about your specific claim and keeps the topic from becoming too broad. Focused finite positions create arguments with fewer assumptions and avoids broad claims that a harder to support. Each of these gives the writer a starting point and a frame for their research.
2. Do you feel that one is harder or more complicated than another? Support your position.
Creating and researching your argument is harder than finding and defending a logical position. Subjectivity is largely removed in a logical position; they make sense, and when they stop making sense it can be clear that your position was wrong. It can also be easier to accept that your logical position was wrong in the face of one that was correct. When you have proposed an argument and another argument is better, it becomes more difficult to accept when there are subjective shades of gray. One aspect of the argument might be leaning your way and carry more weight to you while the other side might not view it as even relevant. Arguing can become blindingly emotional. Even in researching it might lead you to seek out opinions that support yours while ignoring contrary opinions or studies. Logical positions are clean and clear cut, this makes them much easier to make than an argument.

1. Explain the importance of constructing a logical position or argument for research.
I shall start with defining what an argument is, according to Merriam Webster, an argument is a “coherent series of reasons, statements, or facts intended to support or establish a point of view”. Now, based on this definition here is my take on it. A research that has no strong structural base will collapse all the time. An argument that is not logical cannot be defended nor even explained properly as it does not have any logical reasoning at all and will not make sense. Your position should hold your conclusion or hypothesis well enough to defend itself and persuade others that your position is correct. An argument that does not make sense and does not hold its idea or ideas is nothing but uneducated folly.
Now logic, according to Merriam Webster is “a science that deals with the principles and criteria of validity of inference and demonstration : the science of the formal principles of reasoning” also, “interrelation or sequence of facts or events when seen as inevitable or predictable”. From my understanding, logic is what we use to demonstrate and prove our arguments. An argument cannot exist without logic and logic is what we use to formulate or analyze ideas that we would want to prove correct.
Both are very important for any research in my opinion.

For me, logic is a lot harder to come by compared to an argument. Common sense is not all that common nowadays and with the endless streams of already formed ideas, it is hard to create your own logical position from nothing. Also, an argument already uses an existing logical idea to hold its position. An example I can give is the use of raw materials. For me, logic is like the fiber gathered from plants and an argument is a by product of the said fibers which now combines the fiber and in turn makes a piece of cloth.

Consider the famous argument about who is the greatest basketball player of all time and both sides backing their positions with evidence to justify their position. some say Michael Jordan because he won six championship in six attempts in the finals while other say Lebron James because he has made the finals ten times even though he has won it just four times. It has been the argument for years and both sides keep providing different stats as evidence to back their position. They all have solid evidence or positions in this argument but the premises this set for their position most often dilutes their reasoning. This argument is going to be around for years and it will come down to a more convincing position backed by solid evidence and deep logical reasoning for acceptance.
logic is the study of correct reasoning ,especially regarding making inferences. It helps us better understand good arguments. Logic helps us differentiate between good and bad reasons to believe something. We should want to have well-justified beliefs to better understand concepts that are relevant to good argumentation. Its important to know a logical position in research or argument supported by strong evidence is important to persuade your readers or convince the opposing party to agree with your position. I believe logic is harder and more complicated than argument because having accurate information about your logical position can be very difficult. people have a hard time evaluating information that changes their pre-existing ideas or biases. In arguments, premises are offered to provide support for the conclusion while logic is about whether or not the support is adequate.
