Midterm Applied Research Project: Disaster Case Analysis Report

For this assignment, you are required to write a 15-20 page report based on a selected major U.S. or international disaster and provide a written analysis. Your analysis should include knowledge of the scenario, a bibliography (reference page) and formatting should follow APA and be double spaced, with Times New Roman, 12-point font with 1-inch margins. You should include a minimum of 5 different research or reference sources (e.g., scholarly journal, encyclopedia, newspaper, book, interview, website).

Also, be sure to include the following:

Introduction: Write a short introduction, which includes a summary of the scenario you selected (1-2 page) include the description of the disaster and the emergency management effort;
the nature and location of the disaster (i.e., natural or technological/man-made);
the number of human casualties and amount of property loss.
social and economic demographics and vulnerabilities of the area
the government(s) having jurisdictional responsibility and involved in the disaster response and recovery effort;
the involvement of nonprofit and for-profit actors in the response and recovery effort;
the major planning and policy issues raised—e.g., lack of mitigation effort, inadequacy of preparedness, response failure, recovery problems, etc.
the disaster planning the community had undertaken prior to the incident.
